Variability studies in segregating populations of Sesamum

Annals of Agricultural Research 19(3): 237-240

Information on genetic variability, coefficients of variation, heritability and genetic advance is derived from data on 15 yield-related traits in 10 sesame (Sesamum indicum) genotypes and their 45 F3 populations. Among the traits studied, number of primary branches had high heritability and genetic advance, suggesting that improvement could be brought about by direct selection for this attribute.
