Abstract
A short discussion of the potential of using the weight of roundwood timber as a measure, which notes the problems associated with using a measure which can fluctuate according to wood anatomical conditions, the time of harvesting, drying and length of storage. Some results from a study on the relations between Pinus sylvestris wood density and wood moisture content, undertaken in the Massif Central (France), are used to illustrate coefficients of conversion for these two wood properties.
