X-ray diffraction studies on solid state fermentation for the production of glucoamylase using Aspergillus niger NCIM 1248

Aspergillus niger NCIM 1248 was grown in solid-state fermentation on a 9:1 mixture of wheat bran and corn flour in acidified mineral solution; after each 24 h, the biomass, glucoamylase activity, total soluble sugars and protein content were determined and X-ray diffraction analysis was performed. Various parameters for monitoring the enzyme production by means of X-ray diffraction are given and a mechanism is proposed.
