A coprological survey of parasites in two endangered primates of Silent Valley National Park, Kerala

A parasitological survey of 2 endangered primate species, the liontailed macaque (Macaca silenus) and the Nilgiri langur (Trachypithecus johnii , in the Silent Valley National Park, Kerala, India, was carried out during 1994 and 1995, by the examination of fresh faecal samples. Parasite infections of these species in captivity were also determined and compared with data from the wild. Two nematodes were identified in the wild, Trichuris sp. and Oesophagostomum sp.
