A fatal case of rhino-orbito-cerebral zygomycosis caused by Rhizopus oryzae


, : A fatal case of rhino-orbito-cerebral zygomycosis caused by Rhizopus oryzae. Infeksiyon Dergisi = Turkish Journal of Infection 13(3): 427-431

A case is reported in a 55-year-old diabetic woman from Turkey, who developed rhino-orbito-cerebral and pulmonary forms of zygomycosis together caused by R. oryzae, after dental extraction. Although amphotericin B treatment was started after first mycological confirmation on the 5th day of hospitalization, patient died within 10 h of therapy.
