A study on the location characteristics of existing isolated forests in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture
A survey was conducted in all isolated forests in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture in Japan using geographical maps and landownership maps to establish location characteristics of existing isolated forests. Results showed that isolated forests are located on two types of geographical features: on a river terrace, plateaux or hillside, which comprise mostly of large-scale forests; and on other geographical features, comprised mostly of small-scale forests.
