Xenodiagnoses were performed every 3 hours for up to 72 hours consecutively, using 10 Triatoma infestans 3rd instar larvae each time, in 18 chronic chagasic patients with positive serology and/or xenodiagnosis. Of 237 xenodiagnoses performed in total, 87 (36.7%) were positive. There was no statistically significant difference in the positivity of assays performed during the day (9:00 to 18:00) compared to those performed at night (21:00 to 6:00).
