Agricultural commercialization and women farmers in Kenya

Agricultural commercialization and women farmers in Kenya

Women farmers and commercial ventures: increasing food security in developing countries: 317-342

This paper analyses commercialization strategies for local and export markets used by women and men farmers, mostly in western and central Kenya, based on fieldwork carried out in 1996. Ethnographic studies of Kenyan women's agricultural activities are first discussed. Various types of commercial agricultural ventures carried out by smallholders are then described.
