Agrobacterial transformation of apple cultivar and rootstock

Efficient Agrobacterium transformation protocols have been developed for commercial cultivar Melba and clonal rootstock N545 by using disarmed supervirulent strains CBE21 with vector pBI121 carrying gusA gene under 35S promoter and EHA105 with vector 35SGUSint. Transformation frequency was from 1.5 to 13.3%.
