An effect of snow damage on development of a mixed spruce-fir-beech pole-stage stand on the research plot at Stara Pila

An effect of snow damage on development of a mixed spruce-fir-beech pole-stage stand on the research plot at Stara Pila

Lesnicky Casopis 45(4): 181-204

The effects of snow damage in 1993 to the mixed spruce-fir-beech pole-stage stand on the Stara Pila (series I and II) permanent research plots (PRP) in Slovakia was evaluated in 1998, and the extent of damage compared between partial plots in relation to tree species and tending operations to that date. PRP II was damaged (with respect to windthrows and broken trees) more than PRP I, and untreated plots were more damaged than systematically tended plots.
