The lucerne flea, Sminthurus viridis, is a serious pest of clover in dairy pastures in northern Tasmania, Australia. Studies on an established complex of European predatory mites were carried out in the state between 1976-80. The most important of these predators were the bdellid, Bdellodes lapidaria, the parasitids, Pergamasus longicornis and P. quisquiliarum and the anystid, Anystis baccarum.
