Analysis of gene effects for yield determining factors in blackgram Vigna mungo (L) Hepper - I

Genetics of yield determining factors were studied in 625 half-sib bi-parental progenies of black gram cross (L-207 x L-400) by using NCD-II. The results revealed that both additive ( sigma 2A) and dominance ( sigma 2D) genetic variances were involved in the expression of most of the characters. However, the additive genetic variance was higher in magnitude than dominance genetic variance for branches per plant, clusters per plant, pods per plant, 100 seed weight and grain yield per plant.
