Application of PCR and restriction fragments length polymorphisms (PCR/RFLP) for differentiating bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BHV-1)

Application of PCR and restriction fragments length polymorphisms (PCR/RFLP) for differentiating bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BHV-1)

Medycyna Weterynaryjna 56(11): 725-729

The aim of the study was to assess genetic variations amongst BHV-1 strains by using PCR and RFLP. BHV-1 strains were isolated from infected cattle from herds in the Central-East coast region of Poland. After amplifying particular regions of viral genes encoding glycoproteins B, C and D, PCR products were isolated from gel and digested with restriction endonuclease CviJI. Then, digestion products were analysed by PAGE using 20% gel cast.
