Candida guilhermondii as cause of death in hives of European honey bees (Apis mellifera mellifera)

The presence of Candida guilhermondii in hives of honey bees is reported from Espirito Santo State, Brazil, where it caused high mortality among larvae and pupae. The outbreak was controlled by the application of a chloramphenicol solution.
