Changes of contents of some substances in cotton leaves induced by cotton bollworm Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) attack

The effects of infestation by H. armigera on leaf components were investigated in a cotton cultivar resistant to the pest, 3 cultivars with intermediate resistance and 2 cultivars without resistance. The pest caused increases in leaf gossypol and tannin contents, but the increase was greatest in the susceptible cultivar and least in the resistant ones.
