Non-conventional inter-synthetic hybrids were developed using factorial mating design and evaluated in randomised complete block design at Ludhiana. The line x tester analysis indicated prevalence of both additive and non-additive gene effects for resistance to Bipolaris maydis (Cochliobolus heterostrophus) with predominance of non-additive gene effects. Narrow base synthetics NBS J663, NBS A68 and NBS Tux. EP were good general combiners for lower incidence of the disease.
