The experimental material consisted of 20 female and 6 male lines, of both flint and dent types. The experiment was carried out using a completely randomized design, in duplicate. Grain yield, grain dry matter, tillering, lodging at harvest and smut (Sphacelotheca reiliana) resistance were evaluated. Results from six experiments in cross design with replications were subjected to analysis of variance.
