Conceptual evaluation of urban and peri-urban production and marketing of fruits and vegetables in developing countries

Conceptual evaluation of urban and peri-urban production and marketing of fruits and vegetables in developing countries

Urban and peri urban agriculture in Africa: proceedings of a workshop, Netanya, Israel, 23-27 June 1996: 267-296

The basics of the structure-conduct-performance (SCP) approach are introduced. The approach pays particular attention to one concept orientated to behavioural sciences. An SCP approach, developed as a model to examine urban and peri-urban horticultural production, is presented. The key advantages and disadvantages of the theoretical concept are compared, and empirical observations are discussed as examples for specific criteria of the approach.
