Disseminated fungal infection associated with myeloperoxidase deficiency in a premature neonate

, : Disseminated fungal infection associated with myeloperoxidase deficiency in a premature neonate. Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal 19(10): 1027-1029

A case of myeloperoxidase deficiency and recurrent systemic fungal infection is described in a premature neonate of 23 weeks gestation (Hong Kong, date not given). He had the usual complications associated with extreme prematurity including respiratory distress syndrome, patent ductus arteriosus which closed spontaneously at 6 weeks of life, Grade 2 intraventricular haemorrhage and chronic lung disease.
