Effect of Gorei-san (Wu-Ling-San) on cold preservation/reperfusion injury in rat kidney studied with isolated perfusion of rat kidney (IPRK) apparatus

Gorei-san extract (40 mg/kg) was administered to rats, and their kidneys were isolated and placed in Euro-Collins solution with and without (control) the addition of Gorei-san extract. No histological changes or significant differences in urinary potassium value were observed between control and Gorei-san treated kidneys, and no differences in sodium elimination were observed, indicating that Gorei-san exhibited no cell-protecting properties.
