Effect of antiretroviral therapy on cryptosporidiosis and microsporidiosis in patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus type 1

The response of HIV-1-associated microsporidiosis and cryptosporidiosis to antimicrobial treatment was evaluated in patients with or without antiretroviral treatment. 50 patients with diarrhoea, all positive for Cryptosporidium parvum or Enterocytozoon bieneusi, were included in the study.
