During 1993 and 1994, foliar nutrient concentrations in apples cv. Starkspur Supreme Delicious grafted upon nine clonal and seedling rootstocks at Bachiniva, Chihuahua were examined. N and K foliar concentrations were not affected by rootstocks, however, for P, Ca, Mg, B, Fe, Cu, Zn, and Mn significant differences were found. Negative relationships between N, P, Ca, and Mn with canopy volume were found with ten apple rootstocks, where the most vigorous rootstocks showed the lowest foliar nutrient concentrations (Franco, EMLA.7 and EMLA.26). The less vigorous rootstocks like P.22, MAC.1 and MAC.39 showed Mn toxicity.
