Effect of feeding level during rearing and mating strategy on performances of first- and second-litter sows

Effect of feeding level during rearing and mating strategy on performances of first- and second-litter sows

Journees de la Recherche Porcine en France 31: 9-15

The effect of feeding level during rearing and oestrus number at service on the performances of 255 pure Yorkshire gilts, from 25 kg until the beginning of parity three were studied. From 74 to 180 days of age, animals received a standard rearing diet, either ad libitum (AL) or at 80% of the AL level (R). Thereafter, they received 2.4 kg/d of a commercial breeding diet during the pre-service period and during gestation, and they were fed ad libitum during lactation.
