Effect of foot and mouth disease virus infection in zinc deficient guinea pigs: clinical signs and haematological changes

The effects of FMD virus infection in zinc deficient guineapigs with particular reference to clinical signs and haematology were studied. 32 albino guineapigs of an English breed were divided into 2 groups with 16 animals each. Animals in one group were fed on diet containing 1.02 ppm Zn and designated as Zn deficient (ZnD) and animals of the other group designated as Zn adequate (ZnC) were given a diet containing 56 ppm Zn.
