Effect of housing on physiological parameters of crossbred calves

Effect of housing on physiological parameters of crossbred calves

Journal of Eco Physiology 2(2/3): 47-51

The effect of 3 housing systems on the physiological reactions of 48 crossbred calves was evaluated. The groups were loose housed (group 1), housed in individual cages with slatted floors (group 2) or tied individually on partially Kutcha floors (group 3), and each housing group was either given probiotics, or not. Rectal temperature was generally higher in the afternoon than in the morning. In the morning, rectal temperature of group 2 was greatest, followed by group 1 and 3.
