Effect of larval dietary protein sources on different aspects of oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) (Diptera: Tephritidae)

The effects of larval diets consisting of different protein sources were investigated on the development of the Oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) to establish a stable line on artificial media. Diets formulated with torula yeast, instant yeast, autolyzed brewer's yeast, soybean and casein were all found to be nutritionally and physically adequate for rearing.
