The long-term effect of Lantana camara addition on overall improvement in soil productivity in rice-wheat cropping system was studied. A long-term experiment was started in the wet season (July-Nov.) of 1988 with four levels of lantana (0, 10, 20 and 30 t ha-1 (fresh)) and three levels of N in Himachal Pradesh, India. Lantana biomass was added only to rice 10 to 15 days before transplanting/puddling every year.
