In a field trial during rabi 1994/95 and 1995/96 at Bijapur, Karnataka, India, sorghum Maladandi M35-1 was grown with 3 water conservation practices (flat beds, compartmental bunding or ridges and furrows), and was given 2.5 t farmyard manure/ha, 1 t vermicompost/ha or 2.5 t subabul (Leucaena leucocephala) loppings/ha, and 0, 25 or 50 kg N/ha.
