In field experiments conducted in Tamil Nadu, India during the rabi seasons of 1995-96 and 1996-97, three different organic N sources (composted coir pith, enriched farmyard manure (EFYM), seed and soil inoculation of Azospirillum and no organic N (control)) and 4 N rates (0, 20, 40 and 60 kg/ha) were evaluated for their effects on rainfed maize.
