Estimation of avoidable losses in yield due to insect-pests in sunflower

The yield losses in sunflowers (Helianthus annuus) due to various groups of insect pests were worked out by comparing insecticide-treated (endosulfan 35 e.c. at 0.07%, 30 days after sowing, and monocrotophos 36 e.c. at 0.05%, 45 days after sowing) and untreated plots in 1996 and 1997 in Uttar Pradesh, India. The extent of losses were estimated at 11.64% in the zaid crop and 16.34% in the rabi crop.
