Evaluation of tomato varieties against jassid (Empoasca devastans), whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) and leaf curl

Evaluation of tomato varieties against jassid (Empoasca devastans), whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) and leaf curl

Indian Journal of Entomology 61(2): 173-176

Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) is one of the most common vegetables grown in India. It is most severely damaged by jassid Empoasca devastans (Amrasca biguttula biguttula), whitefly Bemisia tabaci and leaf curl, resulting in heavy losses. Studies were undertaken in Madhya Pradesh, India, to find less susceptible varieties. In terms of populations of jassid, whitefly and virus infection, varieties Pusa Ruby, Pusasheetal and Pusa Gaurav were the most promising, also registering high yields.
