Farmer field schools for integrated pest management and committees for local agricultural research: complementary approaches for promoting improved decision-marking for sustainable agriculture

Manejo Integrado de Plagas ( 53): 1-23

The Farmer Field School (FFS) for Integrated Pest Management and the Local Agricultural Research Committee (LARC) are participatory platforms that aid improved decision-making capacity and stimulate local innovation for sustainable agriculture. FFS offers non-formal education related to agroecological principles through a participatory learning process that lasts an entire crop cycle. Twenty-five farmers from a single community participate in each FFS.
