Feeding periodicity, gastric evacuation rate and daily ration of catla, Catla catla fingerlings

Feeding periodicity, gastric evacuation rate and daily ration of catla, Catla catla fingerlings

Karnataka Journal of Agricultural Sciences 13(2): 406-411

The feeding periodicity of catla, Catla catla fingerlings were examined from the gut content at the Bhadra Reservoir Fish Farm, Shimoga, Karnataka, India. Fish were examined for feeding intensity during six sampling periods in the 24 h cycle. The results indicate significant variation between times of the sampling day with high feeding activity at 14 h. Gut content analysis supported by laboratory feeding studies on digestion rate showed that these fish are continous feeders.
