First record of Barley yellow striate mosaic virus and Cereal yellow dwarf virus-RPV infecting wheat in Uzbekistan

First record of Barley yellow striate mosaic virus and Cereal yellow dwarf virus-RPV infecting wheat in Uzbekistan

Plant Disease 85(10): 1122

A preliminary survey was conducted in 12 wheat fields from 2 cereal growing regions (Tashkent-Augren and Tashkent-Samerkand) in Uzbekistan. Of the 250 samples tested, the most common virus present was barley yellow dwarf virus-PAV (BYDV-PAV, 12%) followed by BYDV-SGV (10.8%), barley yellow striate mosaic virus (BYSMV, 2%), and cereal yellow dwarf virus-RPV (CYDV-RPV, 1.2%). Field symptoms of BYSMV-infected plants included yellow flag leaf and stunting.
