Genetic analysis of flowering time for eight natural populations of Arabidopsis thaliana (Brassicaceae) in Japan with special regard to the genes, FRI and FLC

To understand the genetic basis of flowering time for 8 natural populations of Arabidopsis thaliana in Japan, growth experiments were conducted with and without chilling treatments, and crosses were made between plants from Japanese populations and 2 well-characterized flowering time ecotypes (Col and Ler. In order to clarify the associations between flowering time and genotype in the regions around the genes FRI and FLC, microsatellite analysis was also conducted.
