Genetic analysis of grain plumpness in intersubspecific hybrid rice

Genetic analysis of grain plumpness in intersubspecific hybrid rice

Acta Agriculturae Boreali Sinica 15(2): 6-10

Grain plumpness was genetically analysed in 25 intersubspecific hybrid rice combinations from 5 japonica male sterile lines each crossed with 5 widely compatible varieties. Grain plumpness was better in upper spikelets than in lower spikelets for any given panicle. Grain plumpness was mainly controlled by additive effects and its broad-sense heritability was over 0.82. Correlations were found between grain plumpness and other characters.
