Genetic engineering for quality improvement in vegetable crops: current perspectives

Recent advancements in molecular biology, genetic engineering and plant tissue culture have provided a new dimension to vegetable crop improvement. Many important vegetable crops have been genetically engineered over the past decade to confer agronomically valuable traits such as herbicide tolerance, viral resistance, insect resistance and fungal resistance.
