Herbicide response and control of sulfonylurea-resistant biotype of Monochoria vaginalis in paddy fields in Chonnam province, Korea

A biotype of Monochoria vaginalis that is resistant to sulfonylurea herbicides has been identified in paddy fields in Chonnam province, Korea Republic, since 1997. Five different sulfonylurea herbicides (azimsulfuron, bensulfuron, cinosulfuron, cyclosulfamuron and pyrazosulfuron) applied at 0.5, 1 and 2 times the recommended rates did not control the resistant biotype.
