Integrated effect of microbial inoculants and fertilizer nitrogen on N-use efficiency and rhizome yield of turmeric (Curcuma longa L.)

Field trials were conducted during 1994-95 and 1995-96 on turmeric (Curcuma longa) Roma grown in red soil (Alfisol) at High Altitude Research Station, Pottangi in the Koraput district of Orissa. Azotobacter and Azospirillum were tested in absence or presence of fertilizer urea @ 30 and 60 kg N ha-1. It was noted that the rhizome yield and nutrient uptake by the crop were significantly higher following inoculation of either single or combined inoculants irrespective of fertilizer application.
