The issues related to physical interventions in the Ganges Flood Plains, Bangladesh are addressed. Major findings include: the ecosystem is showing signs of rapid change posing a threat to the sustenance of its inhabitants. The people in the past had developed sustainable ways and means of co-existence with the ecosystem though their age-old interaction and understanding of its soil, water, flora, fauna etc.
