Noting that there are 770 000 marine fishermen in Kerala, India, the paper examines: the impact of project assistance on the average gross earnings of various groups of fishermen in Kerala; the impact of mode of project finance on the average net per caput income among beneficiary fishing groups; the fluctuations in the quantity and price of fish transacted by various intermediaries across fishing seasons; and the price elasticity of demand among household consumers for fish and fishery products.
