A field experiment was conducted at Sirugamani, Tamil Nadu, India, with betelvine Vellaikodi. N was applied in 4 split doses at 45-day intervals from 60 days after planting, at 150 or 75 kg/ha, either as urea or half as urea and half as farmyard manure. Azospirillum was applied as a pre-planting dip alone or combined with an Azospirillum soil treatment, and compared with no treatment.
