Integrated nutrient management in gundumalli (Jasminum sambac L.)

The effect of biofertilizers and composted coir pith on the flower yield of J. sambac was investigated in a 3-year field study conducted in Bhavanisagar, Tamil Nadu, India The main-plot treatments were: 100% recommended N as urea (M1), 75% recommended N as urea (M2), 100% recommended N + Azospirillum (M3), 75% recommended N + Azospirillum (M4), 100% recommended N as neem cake-blended urea + Azospirillum (M5), and 75% recommended N as neem cake-blended urea + Azospirillum (M6), all applied in the first year only. The sub-plot treatments were: 10 kg farmyard manure (FYM)/bush (S1), 10 kg composted coir pith (CCP)/bush (S2), 5 kg FYM + 5 kg CCP/bush (S3), 100% recommended P as superphosphate (S4), and 75% recommended P as superphosphate + phosphobacteria (S5), also applied in the first year only. The combined application of M1 and S1 gave the highest number of branches per plant, while the combined application of M6 and S5 gave the highest flower yield (1.56, 1.739, and 1.779 kg/plant) in the first, second, and third years after treatment, respectively.
