Integrated weed control of in situ vegetable crops: back to the future

Integrated weed control of in situ vegetable crops: back to the future

Infos Ctifl ( 167): 38-42

Just like the other components of growing techniques, chemical weed control must evolve in order to reflect the principles of supervised agriculture. Two important concepts co-exist: management of the soil seed bank and reduction of the competition between the crop and the weed. These concepts correspond to long- and short-term aspects of weed control. The concept of the soil seed bank has often been ignored due to the effectiveness, simplicity and low cost of chemical weed control.
