Integrating biotechnology in the National Rice R&D Agenda: a feature on Philippine Rice Research Institute

Rice self-sufficiency is one of the main concerns of Philippine agriculture today. Projections on yield and production, along with the constraints and problems suggest that the country may not be able to satisfy the growing demand. One strategy to strengthen the country's efforts to attain rice self-sufficiency is the use of biotechnology in rice research and development (R&D).
