Integrating science into the Oregon forest practices policy-making process: a case study

In September 1997, the State of Oregon (USA) began a process of reviewing the forest practice rules that regulate timber harvesting on state and private forest lands. An advisory committee was appointed by the Governor's office to carry out this review. The committee represented diverse interests, including environmental, industrial, non-industrial, county, state, federal, and public advocates.
