Integration of GIS and TM data in extraction of early rice planted area of South of China: a case study of Longyou county

Integration of GIS and TM data in extraction of early rice planted area of South of China: a case study of Longyou county

Journal of Zhejiang University Agriculture and Life Sciences 26(2): 197-202

A methodology to estimate the planted area of early rice by integration of geographical information system (GIS) and thematic mapper (TM) data is described. The methodology enhanced the classification precision of TM images in both plain and mountainous areas. Land-use and town boundary maps were digitized and transferred to raster format and opened in the ENVI image analysis software system. TM images, land use maps and town boundary maps were registered at the same projection.
