Integration of drainage, flood control and water management in deltaic and tidal zones

Integration of drainage, flood control and water management in deltaic and tidal zones

Role of drainage and challenges in 21st century Vol II Proceedings of the Eighth ICID International Drainage Workshop, New Delhi, India, 31 January 4 February 2000: 453-468

This paper calls for measures to control inundation of Indian coastal areas by floods; to improve drainage systems and reduce drainage congestion; to reduce waterlogging and salinity of soils by adopting suitable water management techniques; to control salinity ingress from the sea. In order to achieve optimum results it is necessary to integrate drainage, flood control and water management aspects.
