Integration of strategies for controlling root-rot in avocado in Israel

Phytophthora cinnamomi poses one of the most damaging problems for the avocado industry throughout the world. Israel has been coping with the disease since 1983. Throughout 16 years of research, different strategies for eliminating the disease have been established. These strategies are based on: (a) the selection of resistant rootstocks, and (b) providing guidelines to limit disease spread throughout infected plantations. This report highlights the recent research in these areas.
