Intensive sheep production systems on irrigated areas of the Mediterranean basin

Intensive sheep production systems on irrigated areas of the Mediterranean basin

Livestock production and climatic uncertainty in the Mediterranean Proceedings of the joint ANPA EAAP CIHEAM FAO symposium, Agadir, Morocco, 22-24 October 1998: 291-298

The potential of irrigated areas for forage production can be used as a strategy against climatic uncertainty for developing ruminant production in the Mediterranean conditions. However, there is little information on the level of animal production that can be achieved when irrigated grassland is grazed.
